Citi Field

is located in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, New York City, and is the home the New York Mets. Citi Field was built as a replacement for Shea Stadium, which was constructed in 1964 next to the site of the 1964-1965 World’s Fair, the new stadium has a capacity of 41,800 – over 15,000 seats less than Shea Stadium. All the seats in the park are green – a tribute to the Polo Grounds, the longtime home of the baseball Giants and the original home of the Mets.

The Mets initially planned to replace Shea Stadium in the 1990s – the team unveiled a model of the new stadium in 1998, which featured a retractable roof and a movable grass field, which would have allowed it to host other events like conventions and college basketball games. The final plans for Citi Field were created as part of the New York City 2012 Olympic bid. After plans for a West Side Stadium fell through, New York looked for an alternate stadium to host the opening and closing ceremonies and track and field. The Olympic Stadium project on the West Side was estimated to cost $2.2 billion, with $300 million provided by New York City and an additional $300 million from New York State. If New York had won the bid, Citi Field would have been expanded to host Olympic events while the Mets would have played at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx for the 2012 season.

Citi Field’s interior design is primarily influenced by PNC Park, which was a favorite of Mets COO Jeff Wilpon. Other major stadium influences include: Great American Ball Park, Coors Field and Citizens Bank Park. Shea Stadium was the only ballpark in the Major Leagues to feature orange foul poles instead of  yellow, which is a unique characteristic that has been replicated in Citi Field.

Directions from Rockland

Take I-87 South (becomes the Major Deegan Expressway in New York City) to the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge to the Grand Central Parkway to exit 9E- Northern Boulevard/Citi Field exit.

Parking

Hours of operation: All parking lots will open no later than (3) hours prior to the scheduled beginning of games/events at Citi Field. The only exception to these hours is the Commuter Lot (see Commuter Lot info below).

Credit cards: The Mets are one of the first teams in the area to offer credit card usage in the lanes at Citi Field. In addition to cash, patrons may choose to use their major credit card to gain entry to any of the Day of Game (General Parking) Lots. There are NO additional fees to use your credit card at Citi Field. All credit card information is encrypted at the time of the transaction.

Accessible Parking: Accessible parking spaces are readily available on a first-come, first-served basis, in order to fairly serve Citi Field fans. Spaces may not be reserved in advance. Vehicles identified in the accessible spaces without proper hang tag or licenses plates will be towed immediately at the owners cost.

Rain Out/Postponement: In the event of an MLB sanctioned rain-out or post-poned game, Mets fans will be able to use their receipt for parking in the event the game is cancelled or post-poned. The receipt will be honored only for the new date on which the game is replayed. No cash refunds are available for the initial parking entry.

Special Event Parking: All lots will generally be open three (3) hours prior to the start of a special event. Fans should check on mets.com to determine the opening time of the lots for any special event as well as cost to park for those events.

Access-A-Ride: The drop off and pick up location for all Guests using the Access-A-Ride service is the Bullpen Gate on 126th Street.

Black Car Service: Guests interested in hiring a car service for post-game transportation will find “black cars” available at either end of the Mets office building on 126th Street. This service is provided by third parties independent of the New York Mets.

Handicapped Parking: Citi Field’s parking lots include more than 350 parking spaces designated exclusively for our Guests with disabilities. These spaces are located in lots A, B, F and G, and are available to any Guest displaying a valid handicapped parking pass and possessing either a Citi Field preferred parking pass or a daily parking receipt for that day’s event. Additional handicapped parking spaces are available in the Southfield Lot.

Preferred Parking Passes: – The option to purchase preferred parking passes for all 81 New York Mets home games is available exclusively to Season Ticket account holders. To add preferred parking to your account, season ticket holders should contact Season/Plan Account Customer Service at (718) 565-4360 for more information. There are four designated preferred parking areas within the main Citi Field parking lot, but preferred parking passes will be honored in any Citi Field or remote parking lot. Guests holding preferred parking passes may enter through any gate except Gate 1. Please present your parking hangtag to the attendant upon entering the parking lot, and display your parking hangtag in a prominent location attached to your rearview mirror when parking.

  From Queens:

  From Long Island:

  From Port Authority:

  Connections to the 7 train can be made by taking the E train to the 74th Street-Broadway / Roosevelt Avenue stop in Jackson Heights.

  Citi Field is easily accessible by bicycle and provides safe bike parking locations around the ballpark.

• NJ Transit

  Take NJ Transit to Penn Station and transfer to LIRR. Citi Field is just two stops from Penn Station.

• Metro North

  Change for the 7 train line at Grand Central Station. Take the 7 train to Mets/Willets Point Station.

• Long Island Railroad (LIRR)

  Train service to Mets/Willets Point Station is also available on eastbound Port Washington Branch trains from Penn Station and westbound trains from Great Neck and Port Washington. The train ride is just 18 minutes from Penn Station to Mets/Willets Point Station. For those traveling on the LIRR from Long Island, the new ballpark is just six minutes from Woodside, 17 minutes from Great Neck and 27 minutes from Port Washington. From Long Island, customers may go directly to the stadium from Port Washington Branch stations. Customers from other branches should transfer at Woodside.

  Services Citi Field at the Mets/Willets Point Station and makes stops in Manhattan at Times Square, 5th Avenue and Grand Central Station.

  Connections to the 7 train can be made at the 74th Street-Broadway / Roosevelt Avenue stop in Jackson Heights.

  VIA N or W TRAINS:

  Transfer to the 7 train at Queensboro Plaza.

Box Office

The Box Office is located inside the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, which is on the South side of the ballpark (closest to Roosevelt Avenue).  MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, Mets Gift Cards, money orders, and cash are all accepted.

Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:30 pm

Saturday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Closed on Sundays and Holidays

Game Days:

Monday – Friday 9:00 am – until the middle of the 7th inning

Phones will remain open until 1/2 hour after first pitch

Will Call  – Guests must provide proper photo identification at the Will Call window at the Jackie Robinson Rotunda at Citi Field to pick up the tickets.

CHILDREN’S TICKETS -Children 32″ or taller require a ticket to enter the ballpark. Children under 32″, do not require a ticket to attend a game, provided they sit on the lap of an accompanying adult.

CITI FIELD CODE OF CONDUCT

•  Guests will enjoy the baseball experience free from foul/abusive language or obscene gestures.
•  Intervention with an impaired or intoxicated guest will be handled in a prompt and safe manner.
•  Obscene or indecent clothing will not detract from the guest experience.
•  Guests will show their ticket when requested and sit only in their ticketed seat.
•  Guests will refrain from conduct not appropriate in a public, family setting.
•  The progress of the game will not be disrupted by guests’ actions or unauthorized persons on the playing field.

WHEELCHAIR/ADA SEATING

Over 800 wheelchair-accessible seat locations are available in various sections throughout Citi Field. Advance purchases may be made through all single game sales channels, including Mets.com and the Mets Ticket Office at (718)507-TIXX. Subject to availability, tickets are also sold on the day of game at the Ticket Office lobby located inside the Jackie Robinson Rotunda at Citi Field. Citi Field is a fully accessible venue.

SMOKING

Smoking within Citi Field is prohibited, except for the three designated smoking areas located at:

•  Plaza Level – Left Field Gate
•  Field Level – Center field staircase landing across from the back of the CitiVision video board
•  Promenade Level – The top of the ramp across from section 527

Any ticketholder smoking in any location other than the three specified above is subject to ejection without further warning.
